 Abstract:  The Historic American Buildings Survey, Cleveland, Ohio, Photographs, 1965, consist of 45 photographs taken as part of a joint program of the Western Reserve Historical Society and the Historic American Buildings Survey. The photographer for the project was Martin Linsey. The buildings depicted are the Cleveland Arcade; Elwell House, Willoughby, Ohio; the Garfield Monument, Lake View Cemetery; the Old Federal Building; Old Stone Church; Peerless Motor Car Company Building; Pomeroy House, Strongsville, Ohio; the Rockefeller Building; St. John's Episcopal Church; St. Michael's Catholic Church; Society National Bank Building; Tremaine-Gallagher-Watts House; Trinity Cathedral; Wade Park Avenue Bridge; and the Society National Bank Building. The corresponding text for these photographs is located in a book entitled The Architecture of Cleveland : twelve buildings, 1836-1912.

 Abstract:  The Western Reserve Architectural Historians is the Cleveland, Ohio, chapter of the Society of Architectural Historians. The group promotes the study of architectural history and the preservation of historic architecture, with special emphasis on the Western Reserve. The collection consists of bylaws, newsletters, announcements, correspondence, and information regarding field trips sponsored by the group. The collection is helpful in understanding the formation and early development of the society and includes much information on its tours, lectures, preservation activities, etc.

 Abstract:  Edmund H. Chapman (1906-1975) was a professor at Western Reserve University and chairman of its Department of Art and Architecture. He authored the book, "Cleveland, Village to Metropolis," based on his dissertation, "Early Cleveland--the evolution of a city," and wrote numerous articles on local architecture. The collection consists of Chapman's dissertation, the manuscript to his book, journal articles, lecture notes, and student papers.
